Some good fur-flicks
« on: January 20, 2004, 11:19:58 pm »
Hey y'all!
Here's something I love, and hopefully you all do too.
Furry movies!
What are some of the best that you have ever seen...the one's you'd recommend to other furs?
I'm sorry if there's already a topic about this, but I did a search and couldn't find one.   ':p'
Anyways, here are some of the best furry films that I've seen. Feel free to share some films that you like as well!

~Teacher's Pet I saw this yesterday. It's hilarious, and sweet all at once...a dog that wants to be a boy is already an intriguing plotline, but there's some twists in this tail.

~Chuck E. Cheese In The Galaxy 5000 FURSUITS! Wee! Plus, it stars Jasper, my first furry crush '<img'>

~Looney Tunes: Back In Action I actually preferred this to Space Jam...it's quite funny, and it's got some of the most famous anthro characters in the world...

~All Dogs Go To Heaven Oh well, so they aren't anthro...it's still a great film '<img'>

~Balto Same for this one. An awesome movie based on an awesome true story...

~Bingo Although Bingo isn't really anthropomorphic, he has a ton of people-like qualities. This is like my favorite movie ever!

~Fluke My....OTHER favorite movie ever! This film seriously has me in tears by the end, never fails. A puppy begins to think he might have been someone else in a past life, and goes on an amazing journey to find out who.

This is just a handful of my fave furry films...I know there's more, but I'm drawing a blank. Anyways, how about y'all?

basically every disney movie ever made (well all the animated ones). they all have anthropomorphic animals in a sense. anthropomorphics is not just making an animal look human, its giving an animal any human quality. so in a sense, you could see balto as an anthro because he has the human characteristic of speech, same with everything else disney makes.

That's true, as demonstrated in Bingo. The dog doesn't walk upright or talk, but he plays pinball, does math homework-er I don't want to spoil it for anyone.  '<img'>

Is it just animated furry films we're talking about here or can it be non-animated as well? Don't really know if this counts but I consider the British horror film Dog Soldiers to be one of the best werewolf movies I have ever seen.  ''  The werewolves were some of the most realistic ever created. This movie is not for the feint of heart though. Definately a lot of blood and gore in this one, but soooo cool.  ''  The best part was when.....oh wait....I don't want to give anything away. *smacks self for trying to talk about the plot*

Dog Soldiers is going to be on Sci-Fi on Thursday night, just so you know.

Anyway some furry movies are all three of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
They say the mind bends and twists in order to deal with the horrors of life...  ...sometimes the mind bends so much it snaps in two.

You missed my favorite furry movie, Secret of Nimh.

Chicken Run is also quite good as are most of the Wallace and Gromit movies.

Let's start off with this:

Quote
~Chuck E. Cheese In The Galaxy 5000 FURSUITS! Wee! Plus, it stars Jasper, my first furry crush

...yeah.  o-o  I saw an ad for that and it didn't look good at all.  In fact, I was 14 at the time and I said to myself, what the heck is this tripe?  Just because it has fursuits or furries doesn't mean it's good -.-

But anyway.... I haven't seen many furry movies, and I don't intend to go out of my way to find one.  I'm perfectly happy with all the free, creative content here on the internet.  Want a movie?  Make one in flash or something and put it on your website.

But that's just my opinion.

Hmm, Flash sounds good right about now.... maybe I should try it.  ':p'

[edit] NIMH does kick butt, though '<img'>

Secret of Nimh
Balto
The Lion King
The Last Unicorn
Beauty And The Beast
Fern Gully
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
All Dogs Go To Heaven
The Little Mermaid
My bones are hardened rods and steel, my heart a reflective stone,
my blood boils through magnetic veins, my soul is not my own,

My eyes are ruby lanterns, my teeth are silver violence,
my scales are mirrored brillance, my thoughts are pleading silence,

My wings are crimson diamond, my brain crystal quartz
my body is my prison, I am damned of all my parts.

The story isn't great, but believe it or not, I liked it I thought the fursuits were cool, and it was pretty cute, if not oscar award-winning material.  ':p'
So Dog Soldiers is going to be on tomorrow? I'll need to catch that!

My choices for great anthro flicks are (in no particular order):

The Secret of NIMH
Disney's Robin Hood
The Great Mouse Detective
Watership Down
Balto
The Lion King
Dumbo
Bambi
Dot and the Kangaroo
An American Tail (The sequels were terrible)
101 Dalmatians
The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Patrick Robbins

"Any movie with a "preachy" message, be it Christianity, environmentalism, political positions, or what have you, turns away people because rather than letting the audience figure out for themselves what the meaning is, they are told exactly what they ought to think and usually in terms of slogans and buzz words". ~ Brian Godawa

Forgot to mention, but I also like Balto and Balto II.

BTW, Does anyfur know if Secret of Nimh is still available on DVD? I know this is a pretty old film and I'm not sure if it's available. I haven't seen it for a LLLOOONNNGGG time.  '<img'>

Just a side note here, but Dog Soldiers on the Sci-fi channel will probably be edited due to the blood and gore violence. It might be better to try and find the DVD in your local video store or at Suncoast video retailer (major chain store in US). I'm not sure how widely distributed the film is here. I only managed to pick up the ONLY copy (1) my Suncoast store had a year ago and ever since then they haven't gotten any more in.  '<img'>

A lot of great films being made mention of here. My favourite Disney movie is The Aristocats, as many already know.

Also, I can't seem to find the title of this movie, but I used to watch it when I was really young. It was about a boy and a girl who were being raised by wolves, and then they went off on their own. It was animated except for the backgrounds which were all RL photographs. If anyone has any clue what I'm talking about, let me know. It was a really cool, trippy movie ':.'

All my fave films have been said bar one: Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie. Granted the vioces are crap and Knuckles wares a stupid hat but it's a good film!

All this talk of furry films and nobody mentions Ice Age?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! '<img'> Great movie, favorite one from Pixar so far, but I haven't seen Finding Nemo which I hear nothing but good things about.

Kangaroo Jack was an interesting take on what a Furry movie could be as well.

There is also an animated movie based on the book Watership Down which came out in the 70s. It's pretty good I think, better than the book which I didn't like, but maybe that's cause the movie was shorter  ':p'

Also can't forget about those Care Bear movies lol '<img'> Brightheart Raccoon was my fav. character out of all of them  ''

Land Before TIme was also a long running series of movies (what are they at now, 5?)
