Some People In The Furry Fandom
« on: December 13, 2004, 09:35:10 pm »
Maybe im the only furry in the fandom that feels this, but sometimes ill read or look at some things that other furries do and sometimes the things they do (for furry sake) are just, well awkward. I mean im all for furry, i mean rock on for the fandom, but sometimes i see other furs and say, "what the heck!?"
As an example, i will bring attention to a person who had had plastic surgery done to their face to make them look like a cat (im sure you all are aware of the person). Now im not going to bash the person for being hard core for their interest in the feline, but when i saw that i had to say, "what the heck!?"

So has any of you other furs out there in furtopia felt the same??
Or am i the only one.

Oh and if you can state what you find awkward or what you might have seen or heard to make you say, "what the heck" abotu the fandom.

No not really. I can't say anyone's personal fetish bothers me, not even the amputation fetish.
Or body manipulation, or anything else absurd. Actually, I kind of like stuff like that.

RA I think you are thinking of Stalking Cat.. He didnt do that for furry he did that due to his Native American roots. His people once made themselves look like thier totems. That is why he does it. I dont know about others.

When I first came into the fandom I thought "what the heck?" to fursuiting... Now I envy their ability to be outward with their furryness.

They also look really cool! ''

I first thought furry inflation was a bit weird, but then I found out what furpiling was...ick.  I'm not to big of a fan of either despite my furryness.

Well, I'd definately say that there are quite a few things in the fandom that make my skin crawl. Though most of them are really variations on many fetishes, but still.
Since the fandom seems to attract a few sickos/deviants, (every group has thier "freaks") it's not suprising. I won't judge, but frankly, I usually just stay away from some of the real out there stuff, like inflation, and, most of all, the one thing that really gets me: cubcentral.org. I draw the line at pedophillia.
But outside of the odd sexual quirks that there are (live and let live, though, I say), I think things are cool. Surreal, perhaps, but cool nonetheless.

Yeah I would have to say the inflation is weird. I'm by no means a prude but that does make me go what the heck. But hey as long as they keep it to pen and paper, whatever.

Fursuiting weirds me out a little too. Not so much because I think the idea itself is weird (it is a pretty logical step to make), but seeing a ton of people in them is sort of surreal, and IMO, only a precious few of them don't actually look ridiculous. And to do.. ahem.. things while in the suit just seems more awkward than it's worth. I'm more comfortable just using my imagination.

Also the zoophilia and cubby gang creeps me out too. That sort of stuff exists outside the fandom though so I just take it as freaks being freaks.

But hey we shouldn't judge others too much as we all creep people out just because we are fascinated with human-like animals. OMG what a farfetched concept!

I actually entered the fandom *expecting* to be creeped by someone's antics.......

I've been disappointed so far '<img'>

( Before someone misunderstands this, I mean that rather than being "creeped" out, I actually found things "tame" '<img'> )

I've met a few furs..who when I speak to them, just creep me out really!
Theres this fur who lives about 45 mins away from me (Ill just call him bob from here on in).
Every time I speak to bob over msn he keeps telling me about how we are the best of friends and he wants to come and find me so we can go live together in the forest...like wolves. And I hardly know bob! I just met him a week ago and hes talking to me like hes some really freaky stalker...

Other than him and a few other furs.....I find the fandom pretty..normal? Nothing that out there!  '<img'>

I haven't yet found anything in the fandom that I haven't found outside of furry. So, while some of it isn't my cup of tea I don't find myself shocked that it is here in the fandom, all we furs have done is add the twist of anthro's to already existing deviations.

*Laughs*  I haven't seen that much that makes me go what the heck!?

I will say that some of the unreproducable in real life fetishes gave me a turn when I first saw them, but not much else.

Most of these things are just extension of stuff that originated outside the fandom.

We're a pretty eclectic group, so I doubt there is any behavior that I'd be really suprised to find out someone did that's connected to the fandom.

Yeah, I agree that there are some "freaks" out there but I'm not letting that discourage me from being a fur. I actually joined the fandom because of a fur that lives close to me, who is very kinky and loves yiffing.

As for the ones that go so far as to modify themself to look like an animal, I really don't care. If they are into it so much that they want to go off and do something like that, more power to 'em!

I know about others, or at least, one other.  Theres a person in Scotland whith full-body leopard tattoos, implanted fangs and I think some other stuff as well.  He was written up in the papers a few years ago.  He lives in Skye I think.

Well there are some things that do make me think "what the heck!?!" But those are mainly fetishes and I will admit, I have a few myself. Nothing too bad, but this is just my opinion. I mean I am fine with others who like that things that I don't as long as it stays on pen and paper if it is something like vore. I would not like for those things to happen in real life but as far as fantasies go....thats fine.

'' Just don't go and point "Bob" at me...

Anyway, I haven't seen anything that I'd consider overly freaky. But then, it's a bit hard to come across anybody freaky when you don't really participate.

I can say that different kinds of people, regardless of them being furries or not, can sometimes make me think, "what the heck??" As a matter of fact, I have some people in mind right now!  ':dead:'

These types of things exist in ALL walks of life. I am always telling others that if they look hard enough, they can find just about anything out there in the world. So, if one isn't into such things, why go looking for them?

Why not concentrate on the POSITIVE aspects of the fandom instead of the negative? Just an idea.

'<img'>  I agree with Kada... It's our fandome.. It is what me make it so we can make it better or worse. I am not saying that discussing the negitive aspects is a bad thing but the more you do that the more discontent you'll become. It's a natural reaction to negitivity.

As for the what the heck factor... I must say that the fandome though different is a bit tame VS. alot of other things out there. Zoo is just wrong and so are a few other things in the EXTREAMS of the fandome but overall I must say that we are a rather happy go lucky crowd who is very peaceful. That is the wonderful part of us all.

Not really.
I take a look outside the fandom and there's many more chances to say what the heck than there ever will be inside it.

Like the existence of Dubya for example.

About the only thing that bugs me is some of the sexual fetishes.Other than that I haven't really seen anything that creeps me out.Hell,I respect anyone in any fandom that has the guts to go hardcore with their interest.
