These types of things exist in ALL walks of life. I am always telling others that if they look hard enough, they can find just about anything out there in the world. So, if one isn't into such things, why go looking for them?

Why not concentrate on the POSITIVE aspects of the fandom instead of the negative? Just an idea.

i do, i mean i love the fandom, i love being a furry and im not bashing those who i think are weird. I was just having this conversation with another furry and i wondered what other furs thought about it.

Some People In The Furry Fandom, ever look at them and say, "what the heck?"

Yes, constantly.....but I don't think it's my right to trample someone's dreams. If they truly crave something naughty, grotesque or even horrifying...who am I to judge them? We're all a little strange in each other's eyes, no matter how close we become. It's that's mystery, that circus of oddities that adds a bit of needed flavor to life. Afterall, it's not the freaks that ever concern me...it's the nuts.  '<img'>

I have said “what the heck” to my fellow furs more times then I like to ament, just because we are part of the same community that doses don necessarily mean we always agree with each other 100% of the time.

I have philosophical differences with “zoo” furs partly due my personal issues with humanity and I look down on people who do stuff that’s not in keeping with the overall “sprit” of the furdom but being an open minded person I respect, if not agree with, their choices and hope they don’t discredit us too much.

Yes. I saw quite a bit of furries at AnthroCon that made me think "what the heck?". But that was only a select few. Most were cool. '<img'>

I dunno. Some of the fetishs made me double take at first, but then I realised, hell, there really arent any 'furry' fetishes that dont exist independently of the fandom after all so whatever.

There are some other furry things that still make me blank or want to hurl, but the more I look the more I see most of these things exist independently of the fandom too.

There aren't that many things which truely frighten me. Most though, are just fetishes also imbibled by non-furs, too. Some I can understand the rationale of (such as plushophilies), yet I have desire to partake of myself. I -do- have an extensive plush collection, but they're more just cute, squishy house decor to me. Heck, even that has a non-furry comparison. Inflatable people anyone?

... Actually, I have an inflatable dude (wearing shorts) I bought as a gag gift! Since it's G-rated and won't scare anyone, it's going to be a pool toy this summer!

Um, yeah. But most people make me say what the heck at one point or another. I think people blur the line between maybe feeling a comraderie or connection with an animal and trying to become one.

Yeah, I like birds. I fancy myself avian, in a very distant way. But I don't live in a cage or eat birdseed.

I say "what the heck?!" when I find someone that claims to be completely normal, while still fantasizing about anthropomorphized animals.
The opinions expressed in this little nugget of wisdom may not necessarily be those of the producers, directors, editing staff, DJs, VJs, DVDJs, Nel-So-Soft inc., or Grycmyspih J. Ueusp.

Sometimes I take a good, long look at myself (figuratively speaking) and wonder, "What's become of me?  When I first came to college I at least had a shot at being normal and I frickin' blew it!"

But I usually get over it as soon as something distracts me-- ooh, shiney!

*Ehem* Anyways, inflation and macrophilia are major "what the heck"s for me.  I suppose it's out there, outside of furry I mean, but darned if I've ever seen any.

Yep, alot of people (regardless of the community they are affiliated with) make me ask "what the heck?" to myself.

But it all comes down to different strokes for different folks.  As long as someone is happy and not hurting anyone in the process, I don't really care.  It's their business.

Do I say what the heck at some people in the fandom?

Absolutely, just like I say what the heck at some non-furries. There is definitely stuff in general I do *NOT* get... ''

And it'll just grow back your natural shade anyway... after just weeks for some! Still, dyes aren't half as harsh as they used to be. As long as you're careful not to fry it. Bleaching, on the other foot...

I don't dye mine. It's creepy brownish with odd blonde highlights naturally. Freaky hair for the freak!

This thread is so hypocritical. Furries in general make most people outside the fandom go "what the heck?" If you're going to put down others for being freaks then perhaps you've come to the wrong place.

Meh you can say what the heck without putting people down. Also, some of the very worst behavior of fellow furries deserves to be judged. No, I'm not talking about the various fetishes, but actual criminal acts or other major asshattery. These people do exist in the fandom and I reserve the right to say what the heck to them all I want. That's more than being a freak, it's being destructive.

I would have to say what the heck at the fetish side of this a well. C'mon , spend few to several hundred on a suit and then go do whatever in it like that , what the heck!  As far as the fursuiting goes , I respect the few that have the courage to do it. They are obviously comfortable enogh with themselves to do it and not care what others think. I will be one shortly myself. I think most of us here are weird. But weird isn't bad. Just different. I think my name says a lot (too bad it isn't completely original). That also made me ssay what the heck. Oh well.

Sooooo... let me see if I understand this quote right.  You're saying (in a round about way) that those posting in this thread are making you go "what the heck?"?

Got it! And thanks for sharing your opinion! ^.~
