Amtrack Train crash
« on: May 14, 2015, 12:50:37 pm »
Amtrac Train jumps track at 100+ mph.. 8 killed and many injuries out
of 243 people on the train.

Makes one wonder what the engineer was doing running his train into
a curve at twice the speed he should..

These days with smartphones and people texting on twitter and such. Perhaps
there was mechanical issues, but I wonder if he was on a phone instead of doing his
job.. People tend to loose track of time when they text or use a smart phone or such
device. If it turns out to be inattention they should require engineers to not use any
device other than controling the train.

It wouldn't be the first time a man on a phone crashed a train. But I would also suspect sleep deprivation, the transportation industry has history of instigating this kind of thing.

Such a shame...  I suppose we just have to wait until we find out what the reason for the crash was.

Then I can decide whether or not I have grounds to make judgements about how abysmal United States infrastructure is.

It's a good possibility he dozed off. He said he didn't remember anything
till the crash.  That might explain the acceleration up to the curve as well.
