Cheetah robot can jump barriers
« on: May 29, 2015, 03:17:01 pm »
The Cheetah robot, currently the fastest land robot in the world at 28 mph, making it faster than Usain Bolt, has been given new programming. It can now spot barriers, calculate the distance it has to travel to them as well as how high they are, adjust its stride length and leap a hurdle.

Here it is in action.

Fascinating robots. Makes one wonder what might be out there they are not
talking about.

The market for interactive personal robots will be huge whenever they become
available.

Should help make artificial limbs better in the future as well.

No, but they are quite similar.

The Biomimetic Robotics Lab has a lot of ... creepy ... stuff. But its still really cool. My advisor presented this at the conference I was at a couple days ago. It just keeps getting better and better.
