I know i may ruffle some peoples fur in saying this, and I'm really not going to argue with anyone, so please don't antagonize, but the gun ban over here saves thousands of lives each year, and while i believe you don't really need weaponry, when most other people do actually own guns, you will also feel a need for weaponry, so i understand the mass thinking behind it.

But, seriously, people should start making sure that they are storing these things where people can't get hold of them, and keeping keys on their person or making sure it is secure and not easy to access etc.

Also, bullies and people like them should really have more sense and think about what they do to people with activities like this happening so regularly. I understand this was aimed at a teacher but when it is a student shooting, it is usually aimed at a bully, and they don't normally care who they hurt once they start.

why do i want a bullet proof vest now? at least no one got killed in that shooting..... cant imagine what the parents who there kids got killed in the other shooting are going through...

they should really make back ground checks before selling guns. i don't really like the idea of a gun ban mostly because i like guns... even tho i only shot them a few times.
but you can place most of the blame on the parents... they should see the problem and take care of it before anything bad happens. also raise them in a way so they don't do things like that...

There are hundreds of thousands of factors that could push people over the edge, it's not always the parent's fault, but it should be common sense to make sure that weaponry isn't so easily accessible by your children.

But see, we can't do that over here because the inevitable outcome is that our government will become tyrannical and throw us all into concentration camps, and without guns we won't be able to defend ourselves.  Because you know, that's what's happening in Britain and Australia.

well one this is how will they keep the camps guarded? the soldiers who have to guard them will see that what the gov is going is wrong and they will just open the gates and let people leave. if the gov ever did anything like that they will need AI drones that don't have emotions/morals....

but there is always the oppressive government so it's always safe to have guns....

i think some one should make a debate topic for gun laws since this turn from another school shooting to should there be gun laws....

I didn't hate on guns, I just said that unless they are an heirloom of sorts, they aren't needed and people feel more obliged to use one, in the same way that someone with a knife is more likely to be stabbed.

But my main point wasn't hating on guns, heck I like them for recreational purposes and I own a few shooting awards, it was the fact that people don't keep them out of the reach of their children, no matter how old they are.

This is all just trash. Why can't people hide their guns safely?

I suppose the easiest answer would also be safety related, nobody has the time to open a safe and get a gun when they're being robbed or worse. No matter how you cut it, no solution is universally correct...but simple background checks would help. What sane person would sell a repetitive murderer / robber a gun knowingly?

Still...anytime something like this happens is one time too many...

This was a first time offender, a student who was pushed over the edge, now I know that you can't keep it in a safe etc if it's for safety purposes, but just making sure that your kids don't know where you keep it, no matter how old they are, should be a top priority.

ore train them in safety classes, my dad was an instructor so he new all the tricks and that. i was the youngest to ever take his class. and i did the best of everyone in that session as i had already been given outside training by him. the class was more of an official thing for a certificate. id also help him set up the classroom the day before and so i knew the passcode into the building's kitchen. id also been behind the counter and explored the massive gun/ammunition safe they had. dont remember if i ever ran the counter before...
this was all before i was 11 btw.

Someone thought of the gun and mass produced it...no criminal is going to rob someone with a Louisville Slugger when they have to talk to Mr. Smith and his coworker Weston...but simple steps like hiding it in a secure place known by RESPONSIBLE adults...I'm not going to go there but simple measures like that should be taken.
