U.S. Authorities Confirm DPRK As Behind Sony Hacking
« on: December 19, 2014, 09:02:00 am »
So the DPRK stops the release of the Interview through threats and is now confirmed by U.S. authorities as behind the Sony hacking. Strange world we now live in, where the demands of hackers are being met. Anyone have any thoughts on this development?

It's possible Sony will release the movie at a later date. Theaters didn't want to risk
losses during their busiest season.

Perhaps business people will finally understand that the internet is not secure, and if
your hooked to it your information is at risk.

One wonders how much Sony spent on security. After all they make millions of
dollars, and can well afford to spend what it takes to keep their internal network
seperate and secure.

There is a old saying. The easier something is to use, the easier it is to break into.

This goes for computers as well as locked doors..

This country always used to have a saying that we would never bow down or deal with terrorists. But now we're bowing down to the demands of hackers and North Korea?  :o WHAT THE HELL?!  >:( I say, show the damn movie! If North Korea is going to have a fit and be a big cry baby, then so what! Too damn bad! Boo hoo. That movie is supposed to be about an assasination on North Korea's leader, right? I almost wish it would happen for real. We should've taken care of that country long ago. Should've wiped them off the face of the earth.  :P North Korea is just a damn bully who threatens war with anybody whenever they can't get what they want.

Yah and if we did that we'd have WW3 and all the communist countries would have a excuse to use their nukes. That wouldn't turn out well and I think they should send Navy S.E.A.L team 6 to get the job done in assassinating Kim Jong Un. I agree North Korea is being butt hurt about this.

In all likelihood the DPRK's threats have only increased interest in the film. I really cant imagine a better advertizing campaign than "This is the film North Korea threatened to have taken down." Eventually someone will want their investment back, and have it released. It's not as if the DPRK is anything more than a paper kitten militarily or economically, and even their only ally the PRC has shown disinterest in backing up their southern neighbor. What was Denns Rodman thinking calling Kim Jon-Un his friend. -Shakes head-

Perhaps more concerning is that a 'rogue state' such as the DPRK can facilitate computer attacks beyond it's borders without facing repercussions. Perhaps the world would be a far better place if MacArthur had stayed away from the PRC's boarder, and offered Kim Il-sung to have his little 'Democratic People's Republic' along the Yalu. It shows a nation's prosperity when you have to keep your own people from escaping.

Totally agree with you Turgius. A great publicity stunt. : )

I don't get the 'we were attacked' thing. A business was hacked. NOT the Pentagon. CIA, FBI or any other important part of this country. Arrogant hollywood bellyaching is all this really is. This country isn't dealing with terrorists. SONY is not America. Sony is big business crying about being hacked by a crazy guy and his team of hackers.  I'd say good for North Korea. They FINALLY got something right. After years of shooting firecrackers into the ocean. It's kinda like watching your evil little cousin finally getting a good grade on a spelling test.

I like that North Korea gets to decide what movies I'm allowed to watch.

 :D

Let North Korea act like a cry baby all it wants and throw a temper tantrum. If they continue their threats or even threaten to go to war over this, we'll smoke their country. It's just a comedy movie for crying out loud. Let it play in theatres.

Let's not encourage people to hack or cause financial harm, much less cheering them on. No country or
persons have the right to destroy other peoples work or livelyhood. I rather doubt if the release of
private emails and personal information was a publicity stunt.

North Korea has no intentions to attack, they know they will be utterly destroyed. China and Russia will defend them US agression, but would not if North Korea was, breaking the cease fire that keeps the violence out of the ongoing Korean war.

North Korea simply does these to look strong and/or to extorton for for resources.

:D Not cheering them on. Just pointing out no matter what they do they fail. AND making fun of everyone who though this was an attack on America.  Honestly if Sony would have manned up and shown the movie anyway they'd of gotten 20 to 30% more people in to see it. Because of the hack. Instead they cried, pouted and wanted everyone's sympathy. Sony's action made NK the winner.

Sorry Furtopia. Due noted and changed it to bellyaching.

So now I hear North Korea's internet was hacked into and shut down. After they got it up and running someone hit them again and caused their services to be sporadic. "probably some 14 year old kid" was my favorite quote.  :) Oh well. Looks like our evil little cousin got caught cheating on the spelling test after all.  Maybe they'll shoot a few firecrackers into the ocean and claim victory again.
