Iím not completely sure, but I think that cat is having a stroke,
Between the repetitive motion, crying, swallowing, and the heavily dilated eyes, it seem like that could be the case, (but hopefully I'm wrong).

Apparently it survived 7 more years (at least) so whatever it was doesn't seem to have done a great deal of damage. No ill effects mentioned either.

I don't know what cause this cat to act like that, but I have seen many cats that will make that swallowing motion when mad at something. Usually it's combined with hissing and growling, so I wouldn't be too concerned that it's something medical causing this. Same with the dialated eyes, I think it's just part of the defence mechanism to help them see more effectively.
