Notes on Suicide (Don't worry I'm not thinking of killing myself)
« on: September 11, 2010, 05:13:05 am »
A little back story. Back in high school I was an emotional mess, I'm bipolar schizo-effective, and at the time I wasn't being treated. I had helped form a poetry club in the school, it never got very big and a lot of the people who joined left after their first meeting when they realized they had to read their own poetry. During the time the club was together I was kicked out and then brought back in because of a series of poems I wrote called, you guessed it, "Notes on Suicide". I am missing most of the poems but one was so short that it stuck in my mind. Note four which is the one here was the last of the poems and was the one that brought me back into the club.

Notes on Suicide
by A. Sigurd Olson

Note Four
I stared at the blade of a knife today
And in the reflection I saw my own mortality
That vision changed me forever.
Spit and bailing wire hold my mind together.
Translation: I need a hug

Wow, that's really deep. The beauty about this poem is how much you're saying with so little words. Kudos, my friend.
I ate a bag of grapes and now I own the world.
