President Trump is playing politics with a government shutdown.
He is likely plans to jump in a the last moment claiming to
save the day when he created the problem to begin with. The
last few days he has been acting undecided saying the Democrats
won't work with the GOP to pass a budget extension that will
prevent a government shutdown.

In reality the GOP can't get enough of their members to pass a
bill to prevent the shutdown without help from the Democrats.
The GOP is claiming the Dmocrats won't work with them. This
is a lie because the GOP won't work with the Democrats to create
the bill  they want to pass. Then when the Democrats won't agree
support the GOP agenda they hope to mislead the public saying the
Democrats are at fault. When it's the GOP and Trump created the
problem, because they won't agree to compromise.

Compromise is how government is supposed to work. One party trying
to push it's agenda on everyone causes division and other problems.
The GOP knows their hard ball actions will be overturned in the future.
So instead of trying to grab all they can they should return to good
government by working with everyone. This way when power shifts
time won't be wasted putting everything back in order.

The investigation with Trump and his campaigns connecting
to Russia continues. This link should have the latest info.

And just when you think you've learned it all. A no knead method that was invented by a French guy back in the 1970's.

Autolyse

You let the water in the flour make the gluten. Folding the dough once every half hour or so. Then you add the yeast, salt, any fats but they have to be in liquid form but not hot, eggs, sugar and the like. The best explanation I've found for it is,
https://blog.kingarthurflour.com/2017/09/29/using-the-autolyse-method/
They explain what it is and what it does. Nice pictures too. Talk about using it with kneading.
In this set of videos he shows the technique as it was designed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4tgEQw4ibs
The technique is shown in detail in six videos. The first five on his channel and then number seven.

This technique was designed to work with really sticky doughs. I'm still waiting on answers for using it on regular bread recipes. I'm guessing because there's less liquid it'll take longer to do.

There is a drawback to using this method. You can't use a poolish or biga. However it appears you can use a sourdough starter. But only after you let the flour and water do their thing together. Ya, I know what some of you are thinking, "But rat, if you only add a small amount of yeast you could let the entire batch ferment for say only four to six hours." Yes you could. But this has two drawbacks. First would be time. If the autolyse takes three hours you could be talking nine hours before proofing and baking. Secondly if your bread recipe calls for milk and or eggs. I have no problem with milk. However the proteins in eggs or the combo of milk and eggs could cause nasty things to happen when left sitting in a warm room for six hours. I'm not a pro, this is just my cautious guess.

Fro the sake of this thread i've been looking for things that can be done with almost every bread recipe out there. Autolyse may be a technique that you'll have to pick and choose when to use. it looks like a lot of fun. And kneading can get to be a chore. Especially if your doing three or more batches of bread. I've read over and over again, the best way to kill as stand mixer quickly is to use it to knead bread dough. Even the high power Kitchen Aid Pro I have is no match for the dough. That's why I stopped using it and went to hand kneading. It's a great machine. Works wonders for what it does. And yes it's designed to knead dough. But it will last years and years longer if I don't.

furry greetings / Doroud from Shams Mithra, Hello!
« Last post by Shams Mithra on Today at 05:43:21 am »
Hello. My name is Shams Mithra, or rather, my fursona is Shams.
My real name is much longer.
I am very new to being a furry and hope I will one day have a fursuit to represent myself.
I am new. However, I am very eager (and nervous) to step into the Furry Community.
I hear it is a very welcoming community and hope that you will have me. I am sure you are all wonderful people.
Hopefully, I will soon get to know all of you.

My name, Shams Mithra, comes from the neighbouring faiths of Akkadia and Persia/Media.
Shams, also called Shamash, is the Akkadian god of the Sun, known for having the head of a lion.
Mithra, also called Miša, is the Persian/Median god of the Sun, known ALSO for having the head of a lion.
So, my fursona is Shams Mithra. : )
Hello everyone! :D

news forum / Re: Trump the GOP and Democrats. A new path or more of the same.

President Trump said he would co operate with investigations so
why did he place a GAG order on Steve Bannon? If Trump has
nothing to hide he should stay out of it. Or perhaps this is more
proof that Trump does have things to hide. There is much
evidence that Trump has had a lot of business in Russia.
Even though he continues to deny it. Most likely more of
his lies.

Our National Parks are at risk under the Trump administration,
Could it be Trump is willing to give anything to big business
as long as they support him and the GOP? Our National
Parks are national treasures. Once they are gone or spoiled
there is no way to fix or replace them. Money grubbing
billionaires like Trump care little for anything but money.
Trump claimed he couldn't be bought, but he has been
selling pay for play and our integrity ever since his
inauguration.

Only Congress or the courts can stop Trump. The GOP
acts like his lapdog and will do little to stop him. He
continues to claim any news that doesn't praise him
is fake. If we loose the free press government can do
anything they want. Trump appears to be encouraging
autocrats around the world to  follow his lead on
calling unwanted news FAKE. There are over 200 news
reporters in jail around the world and increasing. Stalin
of the Soviet Union called the media a danger to the
people, and Trump seems to be following Stalin who
like Hitler had anyone who stood against him killed or
imprisoned.
