I don't know how to do this, but I do know how to tell the difference between a computer and an overpriced record player. :D Tell me again why you thought surfing the web on the latter was a good idea. Seriously, why can't you just use a laptop like everybody else?

2) I was using a CD player previously for listening to music on the go, and had a while bunch of CD's I burned, unlabled because I was too lazy, often getting scratched up becuase they were expendable...
3) Can't bring a laptop everwhere I go *Cough firealarm evac cough*

And yes, I am a PC (windows/linux) person

1) I feel your pain.
2) I like your style.
3) So buy a really cheap laptop, encrypt it, and put all your data on an external hard drive. That way when things go wrong, you can just yank the hard drive, put in your pocket, and leave the computer behind and forget about it. (Although, if you ever do get it back, don't forget to hashcheck the MBR with a boot CD and check for keyloggers before you start using it again...)

Wow, that's got to be the snarkiest response I've read in a long time, especially to a question of this nature. Nobody is shoving a device down anybody's throat to begin with. If he has an iPod, he has an iPod. The fact that you can have a Wi-Fi capable Internet-browsing device in your pocket isn't necessarily a bad thing.

As for the question at hand, is it an issue with the Safari Browser, or just pop-up syle ads in Apps in general?

web browsing (Safari) - considering that safari is based on gecko, which is what firefox uses, I would not be surprised if there was some kind of adblock for it, and for the mobile version. Or I might be able to go through an ad-blocking proxy perhaps?
If apps have pop-up style ads (which I don't know, because I have /never/ used the app store, because... that would be giving apple money), that is... just pathetic. >.<

Anyways, to #3, I would still have to carry around the laptop. Which is many times larger.

Apple probably wont allow an add blocker. Putting it through a proxy may be a good solution though, if you're willing to sacrifice the speed.

but I do know how to tell the difference between a computer and an overpriced record player.

Oi! Don't assosciate us people with record players with that thing!

I miss Mooshi. :( Besides, I know how Avan feels about Apple. As for shoving things down people's throats, Apple has never been too happy about putting users in control of their own devices. If they want you to see ads, then you will see ads. I doubt there's any way around it.

Well, I did say it was an overpriced record player. I'd make a snide remark about it's quality, but Kobuk wouldn't like that. ;)

The Mercury browser blocks all ads and is comparable, if not better browser for many iOS devices. There's a lite version for free and a paid version, but the paid version is only .99 so it's no skin off my back.

Also, ads in apps and on the browsers are placed there by the application's creators and NOT Apple. I don't think Apple would advertise for their competitors of creepy porn.
