It's actually a good idea to do that, Old Rabbit. Someone can steal all the information off an RFID simply by walking by with a reader, or hiding one someplace you walk by.

One could wrap some aluminum foil around the card. In such a way it could be taken out and
 replaced.  The heaver foil  would last longer than the thin cheap stuff..

Or you can get thin aluminum flashing and wrap it over a ruler like a yard stick. You can cut
it with a good pair of scissors to fit a card.Then fold one end and wrap tape around it. That would
last quite a while.

If you do try the flashing method, use care as it can cut your fingers.
