At least in this culture, when people are confronted with something that's bred right down into our bones, like a sense of cuteness, of language, of sex, or of fairness-- instincts we evolved-- they inevitably focus on the little details or the specific examples that set them apart.
And then everybody congratulates each other for being different.
Meanwhile, everybody's got the same basic instncts for cuteness, fairness, language, and arousal. (well, okay, there're really more like two distinct patterns of the latter).
