I only bring this up because i have recently been tipped of to a group that not only hates me for being a furry but my furry friends and non furry friends just for them being ok with who i am

Has anyone else had this happen to them just curious?

Never really had that happen to me personally.

I wouldn't worry about it though. If they have that attitude towards someone just because they're different then their opinion really has no value. Gotta love stupid people

Hated? No...that's mostly relegated to younger crowds. But misunderstood? Oh yeah - goes with the territory.

Not as much hated as shunned... But I Hate the "in" group anyway, I will be what I am, not what "I should be" according to them, unless of course the furry fandom goes mainstream

Although all of the trolls I've met (one of them being my freind actually) are actually more interested in the fandom than making fun of it... And I refuse to complain about that!

yeah actually, i think one person, but more likely 2.
the first pisses me off as a person anyways, as for the second its wierd, were "friends" but he stills gives me crap every so often.

In high school there was a group of kids who used to pick on me for being a furry. You pretty much have to learn to let it go in one ear and out the other. Furry is a weird subculture and people aren't going to understand it sometimes so that's why they make fun of it. You can't please everybody. Find the people who accept you for who you are and run with them.

Haters gonna hate, etc.

Generally I don't tend to associate with people who hate furries just because I think it's obnoxious. Like ... Dude, it's just people who like animals ((at its most basic level)). Get over yourself. e.e

So far I've gotten nothing more than a funny look, shrug and a subject change. It's really only other furs that know I'm one, so I don't run into haters or anything.

Sounds like the conversations I have with people that insist I'm not albino because I don't have red eyes. (Default pigment for eyes is blue, not red- the closest you'll get to red is violet, in that there would be so little pigmentation you'd start to see blood cells. But I digress.) Like, dude, do your research before opening your fat mouth.

Since creating the character/mascot/fursuit, it's been half & half. I get invited to events to suit up and help out with public relations. Photos of my fursuit never seem to get posted on any official sites. It's like they're embarassed to have a fursuit mascot capering at camp. An interview for the camp newsletter was mysteriously cancelled.

Second-hand information suggests I've been called crazy. I think they're envious, because my participation in fursuit is a magnet for media coverage at local public events.

I've not necessarily been hated, but have had to put up with some crap. I've learned to get used to the occasional insult but it just bugs me when I say I'm a furry and other people think they know more about it than I do. Like many, that just rubs my fur the wrong way.

I have not encountered that yet, but when people find out that I have gone off this particular diving board into the furry pool, they will begin to question my sanity. If they ask, ill tell them sanity is overated and they should just enjoy life in what ever way they can and leave us nuts alone.

One time on xbox live a kid started asking questions and when I tried to explian it to him he onley listened to the fursuit sex part and yiff.. Now he got all of his friends to hate on me and say u have sex with animals every time they see me, and most if them were my xbox live friends...alot of people were deleted that day.

Hated? Never. Sure people have made fun of it, but there's a lot to make fun of. I just don't take people like that seriously. Everyone I've met who has a good head on their shoulders has accepted me for who I am (speaking broadly). Furry never got in the way of a friendship for me, and I don't exactly hide (or overly express) the fandom's influence in my life.

I don't think I've ever been hated just for being a furry, but some people have mentioned it when insulting me. I have a description of my fursona in my xbox live bio and some guy used this as evidence for claiming that I was gay. I once expained my furryness to a kid and it led to talking about sexual-orientation. Long story short, the kid turned out to be a Christian zealot who lectured me on how everything he knew was right and that I would burn in hell and blah blah blah. He lost that argument.

dont let the ignorance of others get to you.

There were many times I found people hated me because of who I was. It really got me for a while.
But then a teacher gave me some advice that really helped. He said " theres always going to be people who wont me. But what other say about me is none of my bussiness. If I spent all my time worry about that, my life would be missurable.". So dont worry, be your self. Dont let other lead you have integrity enough to stand firm on you beliefs and desission of what you know in your gut is rite.

Yeah, I agree. While I haven't been "Hated" per say, one of my best friends learned about furries from the wrong source and reacted negatively when he found out. Most of my friends are ok with it, though.

I have been hated for everything I have done. Why being a furry is just another reason people have to glare at me.
