Role Playing Games Forum Rules & Guidelines.1. All RP games/threads are to follow not only the rules described in this post, but also the Furtopia Forum main rules found here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=42607.02. The role play thread must be kept to a
PG or a PG-13 type rating. Special emphasis is placed on the following:
a) Adult or minor persons (Whether human or acting as your fursona) may
NOT be involved in any sexual or other adult/mature situations and activities (abuse, illegal activities, etc.) with other adults or minors anywhere on any Furtopia forum. This includes, but is not limited to: Art, Literature, Pics/videos, etc.
b) While alcohol and tobacco are allowed to build the scene in an RP, excessive use is prohibited. In addition, advocating illegal activity with these items (i.e. underage drinking/smoking) is not allowed. Please read the additional posts further below for more information.
c) Violence (Sword play, Fist fights, Gun battles, etc.),
if not excessive, is allowed. This may include
mild blood but no gore. Members must be careful when RP'ing any violent content (Torture, Abuse, Hitting, etc.) against minors (Under 18 characters).
d) No excessive (or encouragement/advocation of) adult language, bodily fluids, or anything else which may be deemed inappropriate/illegal by staff.
e) Mild swearing (Words such as crap, hell, damn, etc.), if not excessive, will be allowed.
f) Mild PG type romance/activities such as hugging, kissing, holding hands, "puppy love", etc. are allowed.
g) If members are unsure how "excessive" to role play an action, then please PM a Mod or Admin and we can answer any question you have.3. The Original Poster
(OP) (Otherwise known as the Gamemaster) of the RP thread is
responsible for the control/operation of the RP thread as well as making sure the members who play in their RP thread abide by the RP rules set forth by the GM as well as all Furtopian rules. If the Gamemaster feels that a member is unfairly playing the game according to the rules they set forth, then the Gamemaster must set limits as you see fit so that all members may play a fair and enjoyable game/RP. However, if members are “excessively” abusing RP'ing these threads in some way and not following the Furtopian main rules, or any other RP rules, then the staff will take corrective actions as needed to ensure the RP thread is stable and peaceful. If there are any problems/rule breaking in an RP game thread that requires the attention of Furtopian staff, then members are to use the
Report to Moderator button/function as described here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=37714.msg729429#msg7294294. The Original Poster (OP/Gamemaster) of the RP thread
must post the following for the RP they wish to create:
· Story plot/description, time period/history, etc.
· Character guidelines/descriptions
· Rules for playing the RP. (This is required!)
· And any other content that may be necessary for members to role play as their characters and post in the RP.
5. If Gamemasters and/or players need help on creating an RP or how to better role play in an RP, then please see this thread here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=34573.06. The following is
NOT a rule, but rather "helpful advice".
---> Good grammar and punctuation, while not necessarily a rule, should be considered out of "common courtesy" to other players so that everyone knows what people are trying to talk about, describe, how to respond to others, etc. If members don't understand what another member is talking about and trying to convey, then that is going to make the RP that much more difficult to handle and moderate, etc. not just for the Gamemaster/Players, but also for the Furtopian staff.
7. The grave-digging rule in the Role-Play Forum is shortened to 1 month for everyone apart from the game master in order to avoid older threads from being revived while the GM is no-longer present to be responsible for them. If a role-play has been dormant for an entire month,
only the GM may re-start it.Out of Character (OOC) Content -Gamemasters have the
OPTION of creating a separate OOC thread to discuss story plot/issues, character guidelines, RP rules, etc. An example of a OOC thread is here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=42774.0An OOC thread is not an RP. It is a thread for members to discuss issues on how they will be playing an RP. From time to time in a RP game thread, there will be members who make OOC (Out of Character) comments in their posts where they ask questions on how a character should act or talk about some other issue or problem in that RP. These OOC comments are generally put in ( ) parentheses to seperate the OOC comments from the actual RP game talk.
If a seperate OOC thread is created, the title must have OOC in it. Example:
"Techburg High RP" game thread, and then there is a seperate
"Techburg High OOC" thread. It is recommended that the Gamemaster put a link to the OOC thread in the opening post of the actual RP thread so members know where to discuss OOC talk. And the same should be done vice versa: Put a link to the actual RP thread in the opening post of the OOC thread so members know where the actual RP is being played and do not mistake the OOC thread as the actual RP thread.
If the Gamemaster and/or members do not wish to have a separate OOC thread, and still wish to post OOC comments in their actual RP game posts, then that is optional. Members can choose to continue to post their OOC comments in ( ) parentheses, or they may choose to "hide" their OOC comments behind a spoiler tag which is described here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=39242.0Creating a new OOC thread or continuing OOC discussion in the RP game thread is optional and is up to the Gamemaster (and/or the RP players). Creating an OOC thread is not mandatory. If any member has any questions about anything here, then please contact a Mod or Admin and we'll help you out. Thanks.
