*chuckle* finally, someone else that lives out in the boonies where you gotta drive 10 miles to find a neighbor with electricity!

being one of the older furs, I'm used to things like hunting, taxedermy, dodging "forgot to field dress it, sorry" piles, various waste products, etc.  there will always be people doing funny mountings like that.  I just wish they didnt look so bleached after a few years.  people should really clean their mounts, occasionally.

To get a teense back on topic: I recently got over my fursecution complex completely, but for some reason, I still take offense to the 6-letter f-word, EVEN if it's used jokingly BY A FURRY!  Just the sight or sound of it is disgusting to me, and I attribute this disgust automatically to the person who said it or wrote it.

I now get called this by someone on a regular basis. Maybe it was because I was bullied within an inch of my sanity in 4th grade, but those sort of this bounce off me after about 2 days. But yah, the first time you hear it, it can be a bit shocking.

Ya my brothers like that. every time I say anything that might have to do with furry all he says is are you "gonna go tell your furry friends" or "are you show your furry friends"

Its not like he's saying any thing bad. it's just the amount that he says it and the tone in his voice. SO AGGRAVATING.

If you interested in lucid dreaming just drop me a PM or stop by the lucid dreaming thread I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.

Don't worry I get it from not just my cousin but all of my friends =/ It's annoying but there's no other choice but to deal with it.

I don't want to put down my brother because he's truly my best friend, but he doesn't respect my furriness.  He was always so excited when I told him I had a new drawing to show him, and he always enjoyed my art; that is until I started focusing more on furries.  Even though I've produced some really awesome work (far better than stuff that I used to show him), his reaction has been dulled to, "Oh.  Cool.  Yeah his face looks weird.  Why don't you draw humans anymore?"  I tell him that I DO (at about a 30/70 ratio) but for some reason he regards all of my work as not worth looking at, simply because it's furry.  It hurts.

I have a pretty country driven family composed of many cousins, great aunts and whatnot with about 95% of them being small game hunters.  About a few years ago I'm sitting down with my dad and I would think maybe his cousin/uncle ( I really don't know what his relation to me is, so I'll just call him my uncle for now) and talking about the usual stuff that happened to them that they neglected to tell the other before.  It was pretty calm until my uncle started talking about his recent hunting experiences.

"I remember it was one calm morning and I was camped out in a large field, I hear a scuffle and see a pretty fox trotting along a few yards ahead of me and I think to myself 'I would like a good fox somewhere in the house'.  So I shoot it and wouldn't you know, I nearly blew half it's torso away!  But I take it to my taxidermist friend who does this GENIUS act of having the fox look like it's hiding in an empty log!  The head and shoulders sticking out one end and the tail out the other, boy was it a beauty!"

I'm just glad he didn't see me squirm so much.  I'm not against hunting as long as you USE the meat and everything, but still...  I was not a very comfy fox that day...

*Hides her two foxes, rabbit fur handbag, deer mongoose and cobra* I Don't have a problem with hunting, solong as there is an excess number of animals that are being hunted.

And with the smell thing, My friends and I at school have been unlucky to have gotten a stalker in the form of a really STANKY new person, no matter what we do she won't go away, and it has gotten to the point that her smell has made my friends sick (She never goes near me thankfully XD) We have informed her of her smell and yet she STILL smells really bad. and that has nothing to do with being furry or any fandoms/fanclubs She. Just. Stinks.

Also, the drawings, I am lucky to live in a place where everyone seems to apreciate my art for what it is regardless of whether it's furry or not. The most negative comments on my art have been from my furry brother just cause he doesn't like the style XD

NOW THEN. Onto what ticks me off... or doesn't tick me of but makes me just want to shake people or something >.> People who make their furryness seem bigger than it is, that say that they could NEVER tell anyone about it because it's so bad and yada yada yada, Why is it so important that you say anything? Go ahead and look at the art and wear the tail and ears, if someone asks it's jsut an interest, if someone seems generally interested then go ahead and tell them about it, but don't make a big deal about it and people will probably treat it better than if you make it out to be a gaint secret. Yes there's bad publicity and all, but if it keeps being treated by furs as a big deal, people will see it as something bad rather than just cool animals and a mostly great community.

Maybe I just say that cause I have never really been in an anti-furry environment, but everyone knows I draw furry critters (I even sold my art at school and made a ton of money, too bad it was for the school though >.>) And only one of my friends is slightly against it (She bought a t-shirt with my art and likes my characters XD) But they still see me as the same person and couldn't care less about it.

nobody knows i are a furry. *very very private*

*antisocial irl*

but most of my classmates know i draw animals only, cuz i cant seem to draw anythin else. yet i dun get dissed for that.

i do know that sometimes, if i do draw one of my char, one of my other friends will be like "oh god A FURRY. WHATDOWEDO?!", but it aint offensive.

cuz our school is so diverse that nobody cares if you wear a collar or are a furry or not. if you wear a tail, they might question you like "what up with the tail?", but nothin offensive. ouo

Same here. There are kids at my school that can get away with pink hair and home-made shorts, so we are all fairly accepting people. Most of the time people are curious about my furry collar, and not judgmental.

Well ive been a furry for many years and ive had a few bad encounters with people who simply cant respect my ways. First off i live in a city so you will have some people who will simply ignore the fact that I wear a tail and ears, others who will stare, and some who will just blatantly laugh. Ive grown to accept that not everyone will accept it. In school i used to wear a collar, i was one of the kids at the weird table if you will and i got a lot of crap from the popular kids they used to ask me wears my chain and why arent you chasing the mailman? Youve just got to ignore it, put it behind you, and be proud that you are who u are!  :goldhowl:

Naa, occasionally I get in arguments over animal rights, that's certain, but there are certain things that just... well, shall we say they just rub me the wrong way.
I occasionally wear a collar, though it's not a 'dog' collar, to avoid conflict. However, I've had my collar called a 'cat' collar from time to time and it really doesn't sit well with me. Mind you, I love cats, but I certainly don't like to be called one.
Also, I suppose I'm overly secretive about my furry side even though most of my friends and family accept it.
I mean, I even show my family and friends Fursuit masks I make, and they encourage it, but still... The fear of being teased is a bit too much.
The most that I've really gotten is confusion and a bit of ridicule on my species, but that's about it~
Still... If anyone tried to pull me off for a walk, if I didn't want them to... Heads would roll~

When I came out to my mom, her reaction was... unfavorable, to say the least. XD But she had been steeped in Fark furry lore, which is wildly inaccurate... so I was able to explain to her just where she was wrong. :D

But people at school mostly don't know about furries - they just crack jokes about me thinking I'm a cat (which is funny - my tail is rabbit fur in the shape of a FOX tail, plus I wear a dog-style collar!). It was annoying at first, but I just stopped caring after a while.

I don't know if this counts, but I hate when people call me by my birth name and not my "fur-name". I also hate when people refer to me, by my birth gender. It so bugs me.
Now i just can't pretend to forget,
These voices in my head,
And they just won't stop screaming.

I'm with you on this one too. :[

A fantastic day is when someone refers to me as the gender I want to be and not my birth gender. Makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside :3 But a horrible day is people teasing me about how I don't want to change work location's when I was working at Disney this past semester because I didn't want to wear a skirt. I had to bear with wearing one for a day. Thank goodness that it was busy! I barely had time to focus on the horribleness of it all! But still my fellow coworkers badgering me about my dislike for skirts was a big downer for the days they teased me on :C

lol funny story.

Idk if this really goes in here but I offended people with furry xD.

I posted a blog a while back and was talking about how I'd like to get a fursuit and a number of my female friends freaked out cuz they thought I meant a suit made of animal furs. xD I had no clue i had sooo many anti-fur friends. So i had to explain of course and they were all like oh I feel bads, but thats weird anyway.

lol just thought i'd share.

well I guess I have a story that is kinda associated to furries and it ties in with people making fun of you for furry stuff that I have read in some of the posts below me . In real life I dont wear tails or collars cause im afraid of having people stare at me too much or harrassing me.Instead I wear stuff with wolves on them such as a wolf shirt, wolf necklace and on occassion this wolf ring I just bought. Just recently theres a few guys that I know at school that sorta like to tease me about it and they will sometimes say things like"were you raised by wolves josh" or "dont get bitten by a werewolf josh". These remarks arnt that bad though and they actually make me chuckle and I end up laughing with them about it. So far it hasnt been way to bad but the fact that they would make jokes about wolf shirts and a necklace makes me not want to think about what they would do if I put a collar on or a tail.

I have tons of wolf stuff too ^^

I got silly comments like that in English class last year, though it was an inside-joke (it was from a discussion on archetypes, when I started shredding anti-wolf propaganda childrens stories), like 'buffalo' (we wasted two whole days debating about 'Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.' - subsequently one of the girls there would freak out if someone said buffalo... Somebody (*cough*I only did that the first couple times*cough*) kept writing buffalo on the whiteboard... >.>) or the cardboard donkey head (which seemed to get traded around and worn by several of the guys in the back of the class). There were a bunch of other such extremely random things that went on in that class... Yet somehow we were consistently ahead of schedual...

well, quite honestly I enjoy wearing a leash with my collar and letting people 'walk' me because it is fun and can be a good exercise in trust. If I trust someone enough to walk me then they can walk me without issue but when people used to grab my red tail I would flip out because someone almost pulled it right off my belt and from then on it was a no touch rule. If you made a grab without permission there was no question about me grabbing the wrist in question and twisting it. Then again that tail was bloody expensive.
The echoes in my head, the voices what had they said, whispers in my ear, turn around there's no one here..
listen close to every heart and hear that breaking sound, hopes and dreams are shattering apart and crashing to the ground...

Only had to deal with crap said from parents. A kid at school kills coyotes and it pissed me off, I expressed how it pissed me off and he just said how
Fun it is to shoot them and watch them die so on, well I beat the crap out of him and after that he kept his mouth shut. BTW don't use violence I'm a bad example. I took his crap for a looong time, he had it coming, of and cool thing, he left the school

Err, when people think that furry=pervert. Now, I'm not the purest-minded person in the world  :D , but when they think furries are like " yiff yiff yiff yiff" all the time.

Also, I HATE the larger forums with a passion, the popular ones. And if they're not child freindly, people are going to start thinking we're all like that.

When people say "it's stupid" My non furry friend calls furries stupid, but she doesn't understand it.

I think this is turning into furry pet peeves  D:

Amen, my friend! Even my parents think were all a bunch of furverts (even though I'm not exactly pure either). They got all this "info" from a CSI episode (they tend to believe everything they see on TV). When I told them that I was a Furry, they looked at me like I just said I was a zoophile!

It's not only the stereotypes about the fandom that bug me. Any form of bigotry  drives me completely nuts! I just want to punch bigots in the face when they slander others.
